DISASSEMBLY, CLEANING & INSPECTION

DISASSEMBLY

Upon arrival, work order number assigned and photos taken throughout disassembly. Engine set on multi-tier roller cart where it remains throughout the complete process. Customer contacted to discuss preliminary conditions of engine.

CLEANING

Engine components cleaned in our State of the Art Power Cleaning Cabinet along with Soda and Glass Bead Cleaning Processes. Final cleaning performed per Blueprint’s Developed Procedures practiced for over 50 years.

INSPECTION

Components slated for reuse receive Zyglo, Magnaflux, Ultrasound, Visual 10X Power Eye Glass Inspection and Micrometer Dimensioning. Careful and meticulous procedures are performed in achieving safety, performance and reliability on every Blueprint job.

COMPONENT PREPARATION

Engine components are hand masked and painted before assembly which adds a personal work of art appearance for a Blueprint engine. Powder Coating is available for Rocker Covers, Pushrod Tubes & Intake Pipes.

ENGINE ASSEMBLY

The engine final assembly is where our experience and attention to detail is put to work assuring that each and every step is carefully performed meeting and exceeding mandatory new parts replacement and conforming to exact factory New Limits specifications. As a small shop, Blueprint’s team of experienced technicians are able to personally perform each and every phase of the engine assembly to completion.

Blueprint has developed and incorporated many procedures to use in the assembly process over the years that make the difference in helping the engine achieve and maintain its safety, performance and reliability.

COMPONENT BALANCING

Pistons and Connecting Rods weighed and positioned for optimum running smoothness.

CYLINDER POWER BALANCING

Blueprint measures and positions bore volumes in the engine firing order providing a smoother running engine.

CYLINDER PRESSURE TESTING

Cylinders are pressure tested before installation to insure optimum valve/seat sealing before installation on engine.

CYLINDER BORE FLEX HONE PROCESS

Creates a plateau finish resulting in better heat dissipation (reduces cylinder wall glazing), improved lubricity, less blow-by and improved sealing surface, stabilized oil consumption. This process has been utilized in all our racing and aircraft engines for many years with excellent results.

CRANKCASE SEALING UPGRADE

On Continental and Lycoming engine crankcases, we offer special Rubber Channel Crankcase Sealing Modification which replaces Old Silk Thread Method and helps prevent leaking case halves. Note left photo shows old silk thread broken and case leaking. Right photo has upgraded modification.
